I'm David "F1ak3r" Yates, and I come from the sunny land of South Africa, where lions roam the streets and Internet connections are reliant on smoke signals.

Some history:

I've been interested in game development for a good few years now, ever since I discovered Game Maker in February 2005, on a magazine cover CD. I fiddled around with it, made a few horrifically bad things, and eventually released a game that wasn't absolutely horrendous in November 2007 (quite a time gap, eh?).

Sometime near Christmas that same year, I got a message from a fellow who called himself ESA, offering to redo the graphics of my newly released game, Elements Of Escape (you can find a majorly updated version of it on the games page). After that, everything just started going really well.

What I do:

I'm Green And Beyond's programmer and spokesperson. In layman's terms, I make games stuff work on the computer and I write things like the text on this site and announcements of projects and such.

As far as non-GAB stuff goes, I'm a fairly prolific fiction writer, with over thirty short stories to my name, as well as a full-length novel in its editing phase. See my library here.

I also enjoy ice-skating in my free-time.
